Welcome to the November edition of Fishing Pursuits Newsletter. We have lots of new and exciting places to fish this year as well as our old favorites. This newsletter just covers some of the highlights, including Mission Lodge past and present, Ascension Bay Bonefish Club upcoming season, Costa Rica ASHRAE trip, plus some new additions to our marketing family Paloma River Lodge in Chile and charter fishing right here in the Florida Keys. Enjoy.
We are just back from another great season in Alaska’s amazing Bristol Bay! The weather was very interesting this year with some of the coldest June and July temperatures that we have seen in a long time. It finally got nice the last week of July and stayed nice through most of August. The cooler spring temperatures slowed our early salmon runs down, but they ended up being very strong in numbers and provided solid numbers. For weekly reports visit our Blog and peruse this summers stories and photos. READ MORE
Ascension Bay Bonefish Club
The Club is now open as of November 7th. We are excited to have Dave Corbin back again as manager. He was Tom White’s assistant in 2006 and became the manager in 2008. We also look to have the same staff back again with only one change from last season. The new guide has been subbing for us for a couple of years and has committed to come on board full time. His eyes are amazing and his staking skills so good, our 2008 clients dubbed him ‘Jaguar’. READ MORE or save some money with ourWINTER ABBC SPECIALS
Once again we have put together the annual post ASHRAE convention trip and this year looks to be another great one. We are going back to Los Suenos resort Jan. 28 to Feb. 1, 2009. Time is running out for those still interested in joining. If you have already deposited for the 2009, final payment is due and can easily be completed through Fishing Pursuits eStore.
If you are not coming along or just plain curious about fishing in Costa Rica, check back with us in mid-February and check out the trip report. We have no trouble having fun and yes, we do caught some great fish! LAST SEASON’S REPORT
Fishing Pursuits has gotten involved down in Chile again. As many of our guests know, we ran the fishing operations for Southern Chile Expeditions back in 1999 – 2001. We were successful in providing good trips with the help some of our Alaskan guides mixed in. Back then there were really only a handful of bi-lingual Chilean guides including Rene, who I will get to later, who was the head guide for us at Yan Kee Way Lodge that sits North of Puerto Montt. It is amazing to note that many of our Alaskan guides stayed on long after our joint venture ended. Many of them even married Chileans and started families. READ PART I & PART II
We now have fishing options for our clients and the world, down here in the Florida Keys. Fishing Pursuits is handling the bookings for Saltwater Experience’s charter service. This is not a lodge, but rather a first rate charter service that is based out of the beautiful Hawks Cay Resort marina at mile marker 61 in the middle Keys. READ MORE
